‘Luxury Escapes: World’s Best Holidays’ Season 2 showcases more destination gems

The Foxtel Group recently announced the return of the travel series Luxury Escapes: World’s Best Holidays for its second season, wherein more of the world’s most coveted holiday destinations are showcased through the eyes of some familiar Aussie faces.

Season One saw duos such as Masterchef‘s Melissa Leong and actor Ben Lawson uncover NYC’s hidden speak-easies, Cameron Daddo and Melissa Leong safari in South Africa, and chef Miguel Maestre truffle hunt with Cameron Daddo in a Tuscan private forest.

A partnership between luxe travel site Luxury Escapes and Foxtel, each episode sees a pairing of two Australian personalities and actors holidaying together somewhere beyond the ordinary.

Speaking to Gourmet Traveller on the show’s evolution, actor and presenter Cameron Daddo said, “We’re getting better at it – telling the stories of these incredible locations… What I get to do is so exciting and I know that my job is to relate that excitement to the viewer.”

Where is Season 2 of Luxury Escapes: World’s Best Holidays set?

With a spotlight on holy grail travel destinations such as Japan, Greece, Canada, Mexico and Istanbul, there’s surely inspiration for your next sojourn to be found in this season of Luxury Escapes: World’s Best Holidays. The series is also highlighting hidden and more widely known gems in Bali and Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Washington, Germany, Singapore, Istanbul, UK and Queensland.

Daddo spoke exclusively to Gourmet Traveller ahead of the show’s Japan episode wherein himself and Holly Kingston circumnavigate the main island of Japan and wrap up in Osaka.

“Osaka was bustling,” he said of the port city. “Walking through the main street down the middle of the mall, shopping and eating the street food…it’s vibrant and sensorially exciting because there’s so many different aromas and flavours.”

While not stopping in Tokyo this time around, Daddo also reminisced on his time living in 1980s Tokyo – particularly his fondness for Omoide Yokocho (colloquially known as Piss Alley). “The yakitori, the Kirin beer out of a vending machine…the street food there is also pretty sensational”.
