Albury is having a moment. The city on the border of Victoria and NSW, with Lake Hume, the Murray River and snowfields on its doorstep, is expanding its attractions. A 70-kilometre riverside trail is under construction and a state-of-the-art museum is in the works. There’s also a new Atura hotel – an outpost of the mid-market hotel brand from Amalgamated Holdings Ltd, the group behind the QT, Art Series and Rydges properties.
The Albury hotel was the second Atura in Australia (the first opened in Blacktown in 2013). Like its sibling, it offers a business-savvy package, with free WiFi, Malin + Goetz bathroom products and quirky minibars. The bold interior design, by QT designer Nic Graham, runs from the rooms to the lobby, lounge and the Roadhouse Bar & Grill.
Atura’s expansion doesn’t end there. It has also taken over the former Chifley Doveton space in Dandenong. The 128-room hotel offers all the brand’s key features, plus its own microbrewery.
