Acme adds another letter to the acronym this Sunday afternoon: tea, of the high variety. Chef and known tea-lover Mitch Orr is opting to skirt the sweeter side of the three-tiered tradition, and is concentrating more on sandwiches and snacks. “Egg and old bae, scones with drunken chicken and foie butter,” he says, “with a flight of three teas, a white, an oolong and a red.” The standard ticket is $60 a head for food and tea, while fellow Acme co-founder Ed Loveday will be offering an optional booze package on top of that.
Arthur Tong, from Tea Craft will be on hand taking care of the tea side of things. “I’m a big fan of what the Tea Craft guys do,” says Orr. “It’s what we stock at Acme, and it’s what I drink at home, too.”
Will it become a regular thing, given Orr’s #tealife leanings? “I think we might do one seasonally,” he says, “like once every quarter, depending on how lazy I am.”*
