We’re not sure if “cottage” is quite the word, but that’s what the owners of the luxe Matakauri Lodge near Queenstown have called their new $4.6 million addition. Designed by Virginia Fisher, the self-contained Owner’s Cottage has four bedrooms with balconies and views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables, perfect for families and groups of friends. A two-bedroom suite costs from $4,600 a night.
