REVIEW
Tranquil and relaxed, Jolleys Boathouse takes its cues from the Torrens River at its doorstep. Beneath lofty white beams, diners watch hopeful anglers and earnest joggers as the day’s final rays dapple the water. Polite, unhurried staff present menus highlighting South Australian wines, beers and spirits, plus the best of the state’s produce – with a focus on seafood. Wonderfully fresh kingfish sashimi is teamed with salty-sweet nahm jim dressing, Vietnamese mint and coriander. Pickled caper leaves garnish shavings of raw wagyu and pickled kohlrabi. Pan-fried saffron gnocchi with prawns and roasted tomatoes is amped up by crunchy pangrattato. Desserts are built around seasonal fruits, such as a wedge of velvety lemon curd parfait accompanying strawberries and blueberries, with pistachio and cocoa crumb for contrast. This gentrified boat shed has long been an Adelaide favourite; it continues to satisfy in an easy, relaxed manner.
