Morning bun, Pigeon Whole Bakers

Adam Gibson
Address
32 Argyle St, Hobart

The tiny Pigeon Whole Bakers (32 Argyle St, Hobart) is much more than a baker. It’s also a very beautiful café with exquisite morning pastries, sandwiches and pour-over coffee. At Sweet Envy (341 Elizabeth St, North Hobart, 03 6234 8805), the Opéra cake and macarons are legendary. Queens (144 Harrington St, Hobart, 03 6236 9198) has excellent coffee and a rigorous pastry baking schedule (7.30am, 8.45am and 10.30am) for people who take freshness seriously.

Pilgrim Coffee (48 Argyle St, Hobart, 03 6234 1999), Yellow Bernard (109 Collins St, Hobart, 03 6231 5207), Straight Up (202a Liverpool St, Hobart, 03 6236 9237) and Shake a Leg Jr (85 Main Rd, Moonah, 03 6228 2222) are also all good coffee stops.

For more substantial eating, try Born in Brunswick (410 Elizabeth St, North Hobart), Tricycle Café & Bar (77 Salamanca Pl, Hobart, 03 6223 7228), or Pigeon Hole (93 Goulburn St, West Hobart, 03 6236 9306) where the produce on the plate comes from the owners’ organic farm.
