New York’s PDT, one of the world’s best cocktail bars, opened an outpost at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong this week. This is the first PDT outside New York City.
The Honkie Dog
Like at the original site, the brainchild of award-winning bartenders Jim Meehan and Jeff Bell, guests will enter the bar through a phone booth (PDT stands for Please Don’t Tell). All the classics will be there, such as the Benton’s Old Fashioned, Shark and Mezcal Mule, along with the bar’s signature hot dog made with pork, chicken and beef. Rounding out the offer is a selection of new cocktails for Hong Kong such as the Milky Tea Punch, a flip made with Ron Zacapa Centenario rum, Hennessy VSOP, condensed milk and Hong Kong’s ubiquitous Rickshaw tea, and the Bad Hunter, a Scotch whiskey-based riff on a John Collins.
The Big Fan
The new venue seats 25 and echoes the original bar’s design with a copper bar top, herringbone wood ceiling and taxidermy.
